Tending Practical Needs

Loving requires tending practical needs

  • St. Mary’s Food Distribution Ministry – On the 4th Tuesday of each month, we join the community at St. Mary’s in Pleasantville, NJ, to assist with food distribution to those in need.  Extra hands are always welcome!  Our summer food distribution dates are July 22nd and August 26th.  Call the church office to get connected.   (609) 494 – 2398
  • Support for local food pantriesWe have seen a serious dwindling of the foods available for distribution  in recent months, even as the number of individuals and families at risk of food insufficiency keep growing.  We can help stock the shelves of local food pantries by receiving not perishable food items and delivering them to those pantries.  Goods can be left in the designated baskets, either in the church or in the parish house.  Your help will be a source of blessing.
  • Backpack Ministry (Begins July 12th)  – We are blessed each year as our community joins with summer visitors who want to help make sure that at least 4 dozen children in need receive backpacks filled with supplies before the start of the school year.  Who doesn’t like school shopping??
  • St. Peter’s Helpers –  St. Peter’s Helpers” are those who are ready to go and do those seemingly small things that a member of the community can’t manage on their own.  Maybe a senior needs a ride to the store or to the doctor.  Maybe they have something that needs to be moved to the curb.  In these instances, the person in need will call the church office and St. Peter’s Helpers figures out how to meet the need.  This summer we could use a few extra hands in the Helper’s group as a key member of the Helpers is out with a knee replacement.  If you are around a bit (even for one week), give the office a call.  Then, if help is needed while you are here, we’ll reach out and let you know.
