Community-Oriented Ministries

Some of our Community-Oriented Service Ministries

  • Lunch Bunch!  Come gather with us every Wednesday in Christian fellowship, sharing a meal and stories with those who – as they age – risk becoming isolated and lonely
  • Garden and Worship Hospitality!  Rest in our peaceful garden anytime.  In the summer months enjoy free water and peace.  We strive to be a place of respite and relief from the anxieties of the world
  • St. Mary’s Food Distribution Ministry – On the 4th Tuesday of each month, we travel to join the community at St. Mary’s in Pleasantville, NJ, to assist with food distribution to those in need.  Extra hands are always welcome!
  • Annual Burgers & Blessings for our Barnegat Light lifeguards – We are always assissted in this ministry by our friends who worship at Zion Lutheran Church here in Barnegat Light.
  • Annual Backpack Ministry – We are blessed each year as our community joins with summer visitors who want to help make sure that at least 40 children in need receive backpacks filled with supplies before the start of the school year.
  • Annual Blessing of the New School Year – In August, we are blessed as teachers, administrators, bus drivers, lunchroom helpers, students, and others join us  for a special Sunday Eucharist in which everyone lifts in prayer both students and those who will accompany them through the next school year.
  • Our Angel Tree in December provides needed and enjoyable gifts for children at Christmas.
  • Carols and Cocoa Our annual Christmas tree lighting in the garden offers a wonderful ministry of community fellowship.  Join us at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening before the 3rd Sunday in Advent each year.  Bring your joy – and don’t forget your warm jacket as we start outside in the garden!
  • Other OutreachAs a small community, we cannot directly serve in all the ways we might feel drawn, but that doesn’t mean we can’t support the good ministries of others.  We give financial support throughout the year to nonprofits that are engaged in ministries we know are important but which we cannot directly take up ourselves.
  • Prayer Ministry – Members of our community are “Prayer Warriors” who form and Emergency Prayer Team (EPT)!  This group is committed to offering prayers of intercession every time we learn of an immediate need.  We truly believe in the power of prayer and are dedicated to this ministry.
